How the Elephant Got His Trunk

Heather Adams - Personal Name; Priya Kuriyan - Personal Name;

How the Elephant Got His Trunk is a charming retelling of Rudyard Kipling’s classic "Just So" story, adapted for young readers by Heather Adams. The story follows a curious young elephant living in Africa who, at a time when elephants only had small bulges for noses, constantly asks questions. His curiosity leads him to the banks of the great, grey-green, greasy Limpopo River to find out what the Crocodile has for dinner. This whimsical "pourquoi tale" (origin story) explains the transformation of the elephant's nose into a long, useful trunk, blending humor with animal folklore.
